As part of the commemoration, B17 Steam Locomotive Trust members were out raising awareness of their campaign to revive the B17 locomotive and the history of the East Anglian. The Trust's main aim is to build and operate an LNER Class B17 4-6-0 express passenger steam locomotive which will be numbered 61673 and named 'Spirit of Sandringham' for mainline and heritage railway use.

Snaefell Mountain Railway

The inquiry was launched last month after a tram full of passengers lost control due to a brake failure as it descended the mountain. It was also revealed that the railway had suffered six similar incidents involving loss of control or brake failure over the last five years.

A statement from the Department of Infrastructure says the heritage system is no longer compatible with modern safety requirements needed to ensure the well-being of passengers and staff.

The L&BR's Autumn Steam Gala, which takes place from September 30 - October 1, will provide the stage for its new engine where it will be paired with the railway’s four-coach rake of authentic L&B carriages, the first time the line has been able to field a complete L&B train of its own making.

The locomotive has been built at the works of the engineering contractor Alan Keef near Ross-on-Wye, and was funded by the independent charity the 762 Club.... read the full story

The railway needs around £2.5million to get the project off the ground - and with just over a month left before the scheme ends, SVR has high hopes that their upcoming Autumn Steam Gala will help raise the remaining £1million.

The popular season-finale event at the SVR is expected to bring in around 7000 visitors, and has been chosen as a springboard for the last month of the share offer to fund the biggest redevelopment project in the railway's history.

Jurassic, a Peckett and Sons 0-6-0ST engine hauled its first passengers on the Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway (LCLR) tracks by Skegness Water Leisure Park on Sunday, September 17 during the Classic Wheels car and vehicle show.

The railway will remain shut at Broom Lane and will be unable to serve Groombridge and Eridge until repairs have been completed.
 
Services will run from Tunbridge Wells West to High Rocks only which will result in much needed revenue being lost while these expensive and time-consuming repairs are carried out.

The railway's home fleet will include “Standard Class 4”, 76079 and “Standard Class 4 Tank”, 80136. “B1 Class” 61264 and “Black Five Class” locomotive, 44806 will also be running.

The award of £250,000 is to support the new project "Views for all, accessing new markets, our past is their future". The project will deliver the restoration of the long derelict Vista car, a carriage which hasn't run in over 25 years. This carriage, alongside three others, will be rebuilt to provide access for wheelchair users on board our historic steam trains.
